Requisitioned Railway Materials.
In view of the further delay which
is likely to occur before Chinese
Government's claims can be settled, the
War Office have agreed to proceed to
a separate settlement of the war
Supplies Board and the Kowloon Canton
Railway (British Section) claims,
particulars of which were given in
Appendices A and E to Sir Mark Young's
1947
despatch No. 80 of 10th April 1947. I
enclose for your consideration a
Evel Statement attached
statement giving details of the settlement
which the War office are prepared to
recommend and I should be grateful
for your observations in due course
2. In the case of the War Supplies
Board claim a final settlement cannot
be reached until all theother claims,
Chinese and British, are settled and the
amount of commission due to the ar Supplies
Board accurately calculated. In the
meantime however the War office
recommend an interim settlement of
£12,500
