Dear Major Darby,
You wrote to me in August about Capt. S.M. Gidley
(29) (358543), Late R.A.S.C.
As this officer was locally enlisted, I am
afraid he is ineligible for an ex-gratia payment for war damage losses under our scheme.
The sum of £74.6.6 was, however, paid to him by A.F.O. Fanchester in respect of lost military kit, etc. This payment was made on 28th October, 1946.
