Chief Internal Events Reported.

(a) "Kung Sheung Daily Press" of March 3 reports that China has suspended issue of passports to Chinese nationals, pending publication of new regulations.

(b) "Wah Kiu Yat Po" of March 4 says that Japanese Military Yen in possession of Chinese nationals are being registered in Shanghai.

(c) "Chien Kuo Jih Pao", Canton, of March 4 reports that organisation of Whampoa as a trading port is to be accelerated.

(d) "Yuet Wah Pao", Canton, of March 4 reports that importation of foreign goods such as wines and tobacco is to be prohibited by Canton Government.

Comments on Internal Events.

(a) "Wah Kiu Yat Po" of March 3 welcomes reorganisation of the Chinese Government on a broad democratic base, but fears that the one party political monopoly will still exist.

(b) "Hua Shiang Pao" of March 3 holds that Dr. T. V. Soong is not responsible for the state of economic chaos in China.

(c) "Sing Pao" of March 6 pleads for greater co-operation between Hong Kong and Canton, and shows how Canton could help to bring down cost of living in Hong Kong by permitting freer export of rice.

(a) All Chinese newspapers and Chinese Chamber of Commerce are uncompromisingly oppose to the new Inland Revenue Ordinance 'Income Tax' inter alia, "Wah Kiu Yat Po" of March 7.
