Your telegram No. 328. (14)

University.

As indicated in paragraph 3 of ay telegram No. 261, meeting of the University Council was held on 9th March to appoint Treasurer. I deliberately did not attend in order to avoid embarrassment because of my inability to make statement on future.

At the meeting a resolution was moved by a graduate of the Univeralty, now Pension Apoelallet in private, at the beginning begging me to call a meeting of the Court to heer my statquent on the future of the University. All Unofficial Members of the Executive and Legislative Councils were present and resolution was carried unanimously. Several Unofficial Members of the Council epoke largely in favour of it.

3. It is clear that no atatement will be acceptable which does not sketch future developments.

I would find it difficult now to avoid giving an outline of what can be done with local funds provided on the initiative of Unofficial Nombers of both Councils indicating what would still remain to be done though without specifying the source of the necessary aditional funds. This would entail outlining your predecessor's recommendations of the 1946 Advisory Committee, which · remain in blue print of University'e development »

5. I trust you will agree in the circumstances to my making statement to Court on lines proposed in the immediate future. I will of course postpone issue of

(2) prses statement enclosed with my sevingram No. 28 until

receipt of your further observations on it.

5.
