(xxxix) Recommendation that where officers are

provided with Government quarters an economic rent not exceeding 16.2/3,, of an officer's salary should be charged, subject to curtain "cuilings". (paragraph 46).

required in conexion with their duties to live in self-contained Government quarters, the ront deduction should be appropriately reduced. (paragraph 46).

accommodation advance beyond one sixth of an officer's salary, an appropriatu adjustment should be undo in the cost of living allowance. (paragraph 46).

or acquire quarters where it is advantageous for the staff of particular departments to be noused in the vicinity of their work. (paragraph 47)

(xliv) Recommendation that Government should, in

view of the shortage of Europorn stylu houses, continuo as far as possible to provide quarters for expatriate officers. (paragraph 47).

or the provision of free fuel and light should conse, except in the case of officurs who are requina to live in communal barrack accommodation. (paragraph 48).

(xlviii) Recon undation that the scale of field

allowance and conditions under which it is granted should be revised and that in future Piold allowance should be redesigned to cover the additional cost of food while an officer is compelled to sleep away from his headquarters. (paragraph 51).
