P.O.W. There will be plenty of rows when the internees arrive home but there would have been a revolution if Man had not been here.

My own unit will break down before the internees if additional staff do not come soon. As the directive correctly forecast "considerable improvisation will be necessary." With no C.F.A. and a bigger financial tangle than ever we knew in peace, we have taken over the administration of an impoverished and stagnant Colony with 27 officers of whom only 2 are administrative. There will be (have already been) some pretty funny results: but we'll get through somehow with luck. Admiral is a godsend and it is good to be back in H.K.
