In response to your invitation of the

31st December, 1945, (to us to advise you on

the questions of

(a) whether or not the University of

Hong Kong, as such, should continue

to exist and ii so the policy which

should govern its resuseltution and

(b) to consider in some detail the

steps necessary to restart such of the

work hitherto undertaken by the

University as is essential for the

needs of Hong Kong, whatever the
