Chief Civil Affairs Officer for the purposes of

this Proclamation and includes any Deputy or

Assistant Collector.

"Owner" means the person whose name, is or was

at the commencement of the enemy occupation, as

the case may be, registered in the Land Office

as that of the owner or holder of any land held

under lease granted by the Crown, and for the

purposes of this Proclamation every mortgagee

in possession shall be deemed an owner.

3. The Crown rent due in respect of any land

for the half-year ending on the

shall be paid to the Collector at the Colonial

Treasury, or such other place or places as may

be appointed by the Deputy Chief Civil Affairs

Officer, on or before the

,194, and

thereafter at the times fixed by the Crown lease

of such land.

4. (1) The owner or other person tendering payment

of Crown rent shall, if required so to do by the

person to whom the payment is tendered, produce

to such last mentioned person at the time of

tendering payment all receipts or other documents

in his possession (whether issued by the Govern- ment of Hong Kong or by the occupying power)

relating to the payment of any Crown rent which

acchued due on or after the 24th June, 1941, or

relating to any determination of the Crown rent,

whensoever made, made under the provisions of the Crown Rents (Apportionment) Ordinance, 1936,

in respect of the land to which the tender

relates and shall, on a like requirement, leave

such receipts or other documents in the custody of such last mentioned person on being given

a receipt therefor.

(2) The Collector may, by notice in writing in

that behalf, require the owner of any land held
