Electrical.

a. Staff.

So far about half of the monthly paid and a third

of the daily paid staff have been re-employed. Pre-war strength was 54 and 400 respectively. All European Staff except two ex- internees have been repatriated and one European is on loan from another Dept.

b. Katerial. A considerable quantity of Japanese material

has been sorted, but this is largely of poor quality and condition.

c. Light & Power.

Installations in many buildings, aggregating

over 1,000 points have been installed or overhauled for various Government Depts., but only the barest minimum of requirements can be satisfied owing to lack of material.

at various pumping stations have been overhauled and repaired. d. Telephones. Over 100 telephones have been installed in

Government offices. The Government multi-pair cable to the radio station site at Cape D'Aguilar has been repaired and made ready for service.

The aeriel circuit to Tytam Tuk has been restored and in Kowloon and New Territories, work is in hand to restore distant telephone circuits for Waterworks Jept., and telephones along the Railway have also been repaired.

7. REGISTRATION. The only form of registration at present in force
