Measures detailed at (1) and (2) relate
to entry into Colony as a whole.
Facilities for merchants are retained.
Cash deposit requirements has been applied in cases where persons arrive without prior permission and investigation of bona fides is necessary before permission to stay indefinitely is granted, or in the case of persons in transit, to ensure that they leave the Colony. Amount of deposit is not dependent on the length of stay except that for transit passengers from ports beyond South China it is generally $25 only. For others minimum has now been raised to $100.
