By now the Indian police are detested by the Chinese and this fact will affect any Indians who may leave Hong Kong as it is more than likely that any Chinese seeing them on the hills or elsewhere might well report the fact. It would appear necessary for a Chinese to accompany them on all occasions to avoi. this. Incidentally Parrot was arrested by the Chinese on his way to Kukong because he was thought to be of Indian extraction.

No new information concerning the running of the camps is available. The Japanese are apparently succeeding in outting the camps off from any outside activities and the Chinese know practically nothing about conditions inside the camp, One not very reliable refugee reports that he got a message into Shanshuipo to his brother by means of puncturing a tin of food stuff and seṇling up the hole again, The message told him not to try to escape as Chinese volunteers were being rounded up.
No confirmation of any other letters or messages being successfully got into the camps has as yet came to hand. Various channels are in process of being explored.
ESCAPEES.
Rumour of transfer of prisoners to Formosa gathering strength. Confirmation from reliable sources. Officers reported going first.
Various rumours regarding attempts to escape from the interment camps
No rumours are confirmed and very little credence can therefore be
have come to hand, attached to them.
1.
Four police officers escaped from Stanley in April but were caught in a sampan and brought back. We have no knowledge of what happened to them.
2. Six people of unknow rank and arm of the service escaped from North Point
and made for Aberdeen, No further information
3. Seven soldiers rank unknown tried to escape fran Shauskúpoo by climbing
the wire about 20th April, all caught and shot.
It is said that a report appeared in the Hongkong press saying that sang officers had escaped fran Shamshuipo. This was denied the next day by the Japanese who asked the question, "Do you think we are damn fools." ime own recommise "hropeans so easily how could they possibly escare".
WORKING PATTIES.
Reports confirm that working parties proceeded to Shantin and Taipo periodically throughout April. One eye witness reports seeing 30 Britishers working near Shum Chan in kid April. Attempts are being made to confirm this report which if true, is of obvious interest.
