TERMS OF REFERENCE OF THE COMMITTEE APPOINTED
TO CONSIDER CERTAIN QUESTIONS RELATING TO THE
SITE OF THE HONG KONG UNIVERSITY
Having regard to Chapter XI of the report
of the Committee on the development of the University,
to inquire and report upon the following issues.
1. The reasons for regarding the present site of
the University as
(a) inadequate in extent,
(b) otherwise unsuitable.
2. The possibility of meeting the University's
full future land requirements by
(a) extension of the existing site, or
(b) removal of the whole of the University or,
alternatively, of a part of the University (e.g. the students residential accommodation) to another site, or
(c) by a combination of these measures.
Recommendations regarding the second term of
reference should specify the areas contemplated in the
case of extension and/or removal. Such recommendations
should be accompanied by the following estimates.
(1) The cost of land acquisition.
(2) The cost of external and internal road
communications, surface drainage etc.
In addition to the foregoing,
(3) In the case of partial removal, the cost of
re-placing on the new site the accommodation
already provided on the existing site.
