and the post of Chief Preventive Officer was then
rilled by promotion. Thus the ratio of senior posts
to lower ranking posts was 2 to 9, or 1 to 4.5.
The staff having increased to 21, the ratio is
1 to 21, so that promotion prospects are now approx- -imately one-fifth of what they were 17 years ago,
and may be reduced to nil if the post of Senior
Revenue Officer is abolished.
