I have the honour to refer to previous

correspondence terminating with your confidential (3)

despatch of 30th September, 1938, regarding the

re-adjustment of the salary scales of the Senior

Clerical and Accounting Staff, and to inform you

that, with a view to obtaining from officers of

this class options as to whether they wish to

transfer to the new scales, it is proposed to

announce the new scales together with details of

the regulations regarding quarters which will be

applicable to officers on those scales.

The proposed regulations regarding

quarters applicable to officers on the new scales

are those recommended in the report of the Anomalies

Committee, which was transmitted to you under cover of my confidential despatch of 6th September, 1938, and although I have not yet received your decision

on the recommendations made in the Anomalies

Committee's report as a whole, it is observed that

recent offers of appointment by the Colonial Office
