DOWNING STRAFT,

October, 1938.

11/37.

18 END

I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your

despatch No. 704 of 21st September 1938 enclosing a

ata toment relating to King Edward VII Scholar: hips, and to

observe that the balance in the hands of the Treasurer has

increased during the year ended 31st August 1938 by

31.15. 1 to 2888. 7. 7. Whilst the latter amount is

smaller than the balance of $18,680 reported in

Sir william Peel's despatch No. 554 of 51st October 19 54

it appears that the increased expenditure proponed iu

that despatch is not being carried out in full.

2. I have accordingly to enquire whether in view

of the balance at present in hand you consider that no

provision of a grant of £300 need be made in the United

Kingdom timates for 1939/40 which are now in course

of preparation.

GOVERNOR

SIR GEOFFRY NORTIKOT, K.C.M.O.,

etc., etc.,

etc.

I have the honour to be,

sir,

Your most obedient

humble servant,

(Sgd.) MALCOLM MacDONALD
