not see him se s possible Director of Education
within the next few years.

We all thought very well of Mr.
Cuttle. Age 37.9, unmarried. Educated at
Snaresbrook Forest School and Keynam Naval
College, naval service in the war, Emmanuel,
Cambridge, seven years teaching experience at
Felstead and about seven years es H.M.I. under
the Board, for some time in independent charge
of a district. His experience of advice to,
and consultation with, rural and urban local
education authorities in Worcestershire, in
connection with the building up of senior and
central schools with courses corresponding
roughly with what Mr. Burney has in mind in
Hong Kong, is clearly valuable. He has also
had to deal with Church managers, which is
useful in connection with aided schools in Hong
Kong. On the secondary school side, h addition
to his public school teaching experience, he
has taken part in the full dress inspection of
secondary schools. He has given courses of
history and English in the short vacation courses
organised by the Board of Education.
He is
not the kind of person to shine in an interview
and he is reserved. He is probably keener on
the job than ne seemed to be. We could not
get at his reasons for considering it, and he
hae practically no knowledge of Hong Kong con-
ditions or of its educational problems. But
he impressed us all as a mun who would do
