I have the honour to refer to your

Confidential (4) despatch, dated 14th April, 1937,

approving the promotion of Mr. P.D. Wilson,

Senior Executive Engineer, to the post of

Assistant Director of Public Works, and to

inform you that to fill the vacancy caused by

this promotion in the cadre of Executive

Engineers, I recommend the appointment of

Mr. R.P. Shaw who is now the senior officer in

the grade of Engineers and Architects, and is

at present in charge of the Architectural and

Maintenance of Buildings Office, Public Works

Department.

Mr. Shaw is drawing a salary of

£1060 per annum in the existing time scale of

£550

-

£1150 per annum, and I recommend that

he should be promoted to the grade of Executive

Engineer on the existing scale of £1180 - £1300

per annum, with effect from 13th March, 1937.

This recommendation is in accordance with the

suggestion contained in the 4th paragraph of 76374337 your Air Mail despatch No. 221 dated 12th June, 1937,
