I have the honour in accordance with
Colonial Regulation No. 267 to ask your approval for the increase of one Class III post ($480- $700 by varying increments) in the Local Section
of the Senior Clerical and Accounting Staff of
this Colony.
2.
The additional appointment is required
for the Crown Lands and Surveys Office, Public
Works Department, where a Class III Clerk, Senior Clerical and Accounting Staff (£250-£445 by varying increments) was formerly employed. effort was made to retrench the post entirely but without success and consequently no provision

for it was made in this year's Estimates, but
the proposal now is to introduce a member of the Local Section of the Senior Clerical and Accounting Staff instead of a European.

The request for this additional post in the local establishment is made in pursuance
of the policy outlined in Sir Thomas Southorn's
