I have laid before the Lorda Commissioners of His

Majesty's Treasury Mr. Spaight's letter (5.33302 (P.5.)1) of

the 1st October, 1936, and subsequent semi-official correa-

pondence and discussion regarding a proposed contribution

from Air Votes towards the cost of work undertaken by the

Hong Kong Government on the extension of the aerodrome at

Kai Tak.

The Air Counoil explain that in 1934 the Hong

Kong Government decided after consultation with the Air

Officer Commanding, Far East, that enlargement of the

landing ground at this aerodrome, towards the original cost

of which some £100,000 was contributed from Air Votes,

could no longer be deferred in view of modern requirements

and increasing uss and have embarked on a scheme of

extension estimated to cost $300,000.

The Hong Kong

Government have invited the Air Council to contribute

The Secretary

Air Ministry.
