use of the R.A.F. it has been suggested in

the course of the discussion between departmental

representatives that, if the repayment by Government

of all or part of the premium originally received

from the expropriated holder of the land is

included in the costs of resumption which are

paid by the Air Ministry, this in effect amounts to

the payment of a premium by the Air Ministry in

such cases.

At present I understand that, if the land

being no longer required for the purposes of the

R.A.F. were surrendered to Government before 25

elapsed

years had passed, a proportionate repayment of

Crown rent would be made to the Air Ministry.

My information is not clear as to whether a

similar repayment would be made in respect of

the original costs of resumption of the land

or the costs of formation. I should be glad

to receive information on the point, and, further,

aste the nature and constituents of the 'resumption'

charges which have been incurred in the recent

cases
