Draft Notes on 1937 Estimates.

HONG KONG

BUILDINGS.

Sub-head 1.-Queen Mary Hospital, $591,000.-To complete all buildings and cover

payment of retention money.

2. Wanchai Market, $25,600.-To complete and cover payment of reten-

tion money.

3.-Trade School, $6,500.-To pay retention money.

4.-Government Stores and Workshops, $55,000.-To erect a covered store and office on the reclaimed area to the seaward side of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club premises. This is the commencement of a Central Stores development.

5.-Stanley Market, $18,000.-To construct a single storey market of the

open type with caretakers quarters adjoining.

GENERAL Works.

6.-Roads, $30,000.-This sum is required to provide for the road surfacing, kerbing, channelling and footpaths of new roads as new buildings are erected or realignments of streets take place.

7-Drainage (a) Training Nullahs, $5,000.--This sum is required to meet the cost of training stream courses where this is necessary as a result of new development.

(b) Miscellaneous Drainage Works, $20,000.-Required to meet the cost of providing sewers and storm water drains for houses in newly developed areas.

8.-Miscellaneous, $20,000.-This vote is available for all Departments and provides funds for minor works which arise during the year but are considered too small for a separate vote.

9.-Waterworks (a) Meters, $20,000.-Provides for the supply of meters

throughout the year.

(b) Distribution Mains, $5,000.--To provide for the re- placement of water mains in existing districts and

for water mains in newly developed areas.

(c) Miscellaneous, $8,000.-Provides for small exten- sions to subsidiary water mains and other mis- cellaneous minor works.

10.---Port Works, $2,000.-Covers expenses incurred in taking soundings, borings, and for preliminary investigations in connection with new and proposed harbour works, foreshore dumping, etc.

COMMUNICATIONS.

11.--Blue Pool Road, $9,600.-To complete the portion of this road giving

access to Inland Lots Nos. 3685 and 3686.
