With reference to your despatch No.128 of

4th April, 1935, on the subject of alleged inaccuracies

in tin assays made in Hong Kong, I have the honour to (9) invite attention to Sir William Peel's despatch No.161

of 14th March, 1935, regarding differences in the analyses

of Chinese tin furnished by the Hong Kong Government

Analyst and those supplied by assayers in London and New

York.

In regard to Messrs. Brandeis, Goldschmidt

(3) & Co., Ltd.'s letter of 15th March, 1935, copy of which

was forwarded with your despatch, I would point out that

Mr. D.C. Glenn Allen has no connection with, and is not

in a position to issue any assay certificate on behalf of,

this Government.

In view however of the further complaint from Messrs. A. Strauss & Co., I would suggest that

advantage might be taken of the presence in England on

leave of Mr. V.C. Branson, M.C., Government Analyst

(vide Sir William Peel's despatches No.521 of 5th October,

1934, and No.113 of 22nd February, 1935, respectively) for
