BRITISH LEGATION,
OSLO.
19th October, 1935.
Sir,
On receipt of your despatch No.240 of the 2nd ultimo (F 5538/60/10) respecting the control of the passage of arms through Hong Kong to China, I addressed
a note to the Norwegian Government in the sense of your
instructions.
2. I have the honour to report that I have now
received a reply from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stating that no export of arms can take place from Norway to Hong Kong or through Hong Kong to China, because the prohibition of the export of arms and ammunition is still in force. The Norwegian Government have, however, taken note of His Majesty's Government's communication.
I have the honour to be,
with the highest respect,
Sir,
Your most obedient, humble Servant,
(Signed) CECIL DORMER.
The Right Honourable
Sir Samuel Hoare, Bart, G.C.S.I., G.B.E., M.P.,
