I am directed by Secretary Sir John Simon to state for

the information of the Board of Trade, that on 5th September

Fr. Tennyson Tan, of the Chinese Leg Lion called at this

Department.

Yr. Tan had been instructed to say that, according to

information received by the Chinese Government, certain British merchants had been adopting the armatice of sending srms to

feat the British Dominions or Colonies, with the object of having

them reexported to Chine in much way we to evade the Chinese

rezulations in regard to the issue of an immort permit by their Legation in London. Perring that these arme might fall intɔ wrong hands, the Chinese Government reanested the cooneration of His Majesty' a Government in the nited Kingdom in preventing

this preotice.

The soratery of ɛtate would be glad to receive the

observations of the Board in this matter.
