In continuation of our letter of the 4th Cctober,
I have the honour to state that we transmitted to Messrs.
Sir Alex. Binnie, Son and Deacon, for consideration, three
draft forms of agreement, which it was suggested should be
used for the engagement of the Resident Engineer and members
of the staff (Classes I and II respectively), for the Shing
Mun Valley Waterworks Scheme, based upon the standard forms
of agreement for officers engaged by us for temporary service
in Hong Kong, but amended in order to meet the existing
requirements,
2. I now enclose, for your information, copies of
three letters and one enclosure, which we have received in
reply, commenting in detail upon the drafts submitted, and
suggesting a number of alterations. I also transmit, for
convenience of reference, three forms showing, in black type,
the drafts as submitted by us and, in red type, the
modifications proposed by the Consulting Engineers.
3. I have to request that we may be furnished at an
early date with the views of the Secretary of State as to the
respective forms of agreement which should be used in this
connection.
