COL, OFFICE

Sir,

15th March, 1932.

(2)

With reference to your letter of the 9th March (92621/32) forwarding a copy of a letter and enclosure from the Governor of Hong Kong, I have to state, for the information of the Secretary of State for Colonial Affairs in connection with the proposed re-verification of certain standard weights and measures for the Government of Hong Kong that :-

(1) The Department will be prepared to undertake the re-verification of the weights and measures in question, but it is considered desirable that a London firm of scalemakers should be appointed to receive the standards direct from Hong Kong in order that any requisite reconditioning may be effected prior to the submission of the standards to this Department. A list (in alphabetical order) of the principal firms undertaking such work is enclosed herewith.

(2) The standards would appear to require a Class "B" test, which is equivalent to that given to the local standard equipment of an Inspector of Weights and Measures in Great Britain, and the fees would, therefore, be as follows :-

The Under Secretary of State,

Colonial Office,
