I discussed this with Sir W. Peel on the
20th June. (He had seen Sir F. Lindley's despatch
in No.7 before he left Hong Kong). He agreed that
the incident might be regarded as closed, and that
no further official action need be taken in the
matter. I told him that I would write privately
to Mr. Southorn in this sense,
Put by.
This I have now done.
