Major Furse, mr. Mayhew, Mr. Calder and I
were present at the discussion which took place
on the 21st of October.
The selection of staff in this country for
H.K. University has been undertaken sometimes by
the Appointments Dept. here and sometimes by the
P. of E. Since 1926 it has, at the request of
the University Council, been undertaken by the
B. of E., the offers of appointment then issuing
from the Colonial Office. Mr. Wood has now
represented that this work would more appropriately be dealt with by the Universities Bureau, whose history and functions are described in Mr. Mayhew's
minute of 15.10.31 attached.
