culture, philosphy and literature in the light of

modern scientific investigation and which would also

study the repercussions of the influence between

Chinese thought and Western poetry and art. It is

possible that departments of this kind may be set up

hereafter in some of the Universities of Britain and

Western Europe. But it is highly desirable that

there should be a centre at one of the Universities

in the East, and I venture to suggest to you that

the University of Hong Kong would be a very appropriate

place.
