commend to the careful attention of
the University, so far as the regulations
for the entrance examination and steps
for the development of higher Chinese studies
are concerned. I would draw your attention
also to the Committee's hope that the aims and
methods of Chinese teaching in the schools of
Hong Kong will be carefully examined in
connection with any steps that the University
may take.
I shall be glad to hear from you
in due course what action is being taken or
contemplated on these recommendations, and
more particularly whether the development of
Chinese studies in the University is found
financially practicable.
