Page 20. The prevalence of tuberculosis in this

Colony has osused we considerable anxiety, as it did my

predecessors. The main cause anpears to be congestion

in housing. With the continuing development in owloon,

I trust that more accomodation will soon be afforded, so

leading to a diminution of this scourge. Certain

wmendment a have been made to the Building Regulations

with the object of effecting more adequate ventilation in

new house. Meanwhile, I have consulted the irector of

fedical and sanitary Services, with a view to considering whether progaganda in the slave of posters and filmm

would not have a beneficial effect.

Page 22. The question or duaping,more savecially in

connection with smallpox, has hitherto been an insoluble problem, and is at present having my serious consideration. I a addressing Your lordship in a separate desnatch on this question. The practice of holding; a vaccination campaign ammuslly is being continued this your, and a large number of vaccinations have already taken place. there is no doubt that this wocedure has been a very large factor in the keeping down of this disease.

I cannot but regard the hospital wocoaodation in this Colony as insufficient, and plans have been up and amroved for a new General Civil on to address Your lordship early on thig matti to make an annlication to the Colonial Dave
