27.3. Enquiry continued. Jury present.

Further evidence.

Au Huen 3rd witness - recalled:·

"I an absolutely certain that, when the Station Guard ran in

through the compound, he had nothing in either hand. I could

see his revolver in his holster. I can't gave any particular

reason why I noticed the revolver. I am again absolutely certain

that the "murderer" went up the right hand steps and in at the

back door and then turned left towards the inner staircase.

He did not go up the outer stairway. I did not see the Station

Guard fire a single shot at him as he crossed the compound. Had

he so fired I must have seen it. Between 4 & 4.35 p.m. that day

I was sitting in the kitchen, and for the next † hour was in

and out of that room. About 4.30 p.m. I went into the dining

room of the officer in Charge. At that time no machine gun was

in the passage on 1st floor. It could have been brought up

there in the † hour following without my seeing it. I am quite

certain that only 5 shots were fired outside before the

"murderer" ran into the compound, and those shots were fired at

short intervals, not one immediately after the other.

Had the Station guard fired 6 rounds from his revolver one after

the other I must have heard them, but I heard no such shots.

After he ran in through the back door I did not catch sight of

him again.

To Jury X X "I saw no one close the back door. After I had

hidden myself, I heard the telephone in the Charge Room ring

some 5 times. The first time I heard it was about an hour after

the first shooting. I heard the voice of the I.L.S. twice

what I took to be the telephone, but heard him say nothing

in Cantonese except "Call the interpreter: I'm the interpreter."
