Memorandum.

In connection with the forthcoming meeting

of the Colonial Office Currency Committee to discuss

Hong Kong currency, Sir John Campbell wishes me to

send you the enclosed memorandum on Hong Kong trade

prepared in the Far East Department.

The results are necessarily tentative, as

they are only based on three months' figures; in

particular they are based on movements of actual

commodities, and there is no method of discovering to what extent the financing of those movements was carried out in Hong Kong currency, but Sir John thought the memorandum sufficiently interesting to be sent to you.
