service of a new employer the latter must within a

week report the fact. This Part also contained

provisions as to the proper treatment of a Mui Tsai

by her employer and required that a Mui Tsui wishing

to he restored to the custody of her parent or natural

guardian and any Mui Tsai under the age of 18 whose

parent or natural guardian wished her to be restored

to his custody should be so restored without any

payment whatsoever, unless the Secretary Chinese Affairs showed grave objection to such a course in

the interests of the Mui Tsai herself; and finally Part 2 provided that every Mui Tsai should, as

hitherto, have the right to apply to the Secretary

for

Chinese Affairs who could make any order on such

application as he might think fit regarding the

custody, control, and conditions of employment of the

applicant.

Part 3 was not to come into operation until

such date as might be fixed by proclamation of the

Governor in Council. It has not yet come into

operation. This Part provided for the Governor in

Council to make regulations:

(a) for the registration of Mui Tsai:

(b) their remuneration:

(c) their inspection and control:

purposes

(d) for any other Parts required to carry out the

Policy of the Crdinance.

It also provided that all employers must register

Mui Tsai in their employment within a stated interval,

whether they were in ther employment at the time Part 3

came into operation or whether the girl was brought

in subsequently. The employment of an unregistered

Mui Tsai or of any female domestic servant under the
