GIRL SLAVES FREED.

HONG KONG EDICT.

HONG KONG, Thursday.

The Hong Kong Government has notified the Muitsail or girl slaves in the Crown Colony that they are free to return to their parents, and their employers have been warned not to hinder their departure.-Cen- tral News.

The Muitsai question has been raised in- ternationally on any occasions, and some months ago the British Governinent made ca order prohibiting Muitsai. Just before the House of Cominons was prorogued the Government was asked when it proposed to enforce the order. In China there are mil- lions of children working under terrible con- ditions. The law recognises the right of a parent to sell his offspring into slavery. The kidnapping of children for sale as slaves is still carried on.
