I am instructed by my Directors to refer to the
negotiations which have passed between your Department and this
Company respecting certain Lani to be reclaimed at Ma Tau Kok,
Kowloon next to K.M.L.No.90, and of approximately 5 acres in
extent. For very many years, we have hoped that our sales of gas
at Kowloon would develop and that considerable extensions to our
present Works capacity would be needed, but unfortunately, our business there has not grown as the Board expected in consequence
of the general unrest which has been in existence.
have spent large sums of money in recent times on further Plant
at the Kowloon Works, new Mains, Cookers and other appliances
for Consumers and no funds are available for purchasing new Land.
Under the circumstances, the Board find themselves unable to
entertain the Land Site in question and in conveying this decision
to you, I am to tender the sincere thanks of the Company for the
trouble you have kindly taken in the matter.
