Dear Sir,
HONG KONG
SHING MUN VALLEY WATERWORKS. PIPES
ACROSS HONG KONG HARBOUR.
With reference to the Meeting held at your Offices
on Monday 28th inst. at which some of the contents of our letter No.CE/1003/10700 dated 19th inst. to the Crown Agents for the Colonies were discussed, we send you the follow ng particulars
in amplification of the above mentioned letter.
We wish to explain that although we referred to
September 1st 1926, as the date on or about which operations would
be put in hand, if we secure the contræ t, the manufacture of the materials (pipes etc.) to be supplied from this country will be begun at once, so that by September 1st 1926, the greater part of
such materials and all the plant should have been delivered to our workyard in Hong Kong. September 1st 1926 is the date upon which
we hope constructional operations on the site of the work can
be put in hand.
As regards our proposal No.2 to execute the work at
cost plus a fee, we propose that our fee shall be the sum of
£27,000 irrespective of the ultimate cost of the works proposed
and provided for in the documents and drawings we have received
from the Crown Agents.
Regarding the contingencies referred to in our
letter to the Crown Agents, the principal risks we have had to
provide against are :-
