sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge your letter
of the 30th March requesting that the name of Superintendent
of the Chinese Telegraph Office in Hongkong be changed to
"Commercial Agent in charge of the Chinese Telegraph Office
in Hongkong". My Government has again considered the matter
but its members felt that it would not be satisfactory to
effect this change in view of the fact that Mr. Kong sin
Lui has been appointed by the Canton Branch Political Council
as Superintendent, as I informed you on the 28th March,
I have the honour to request that you will acquaint the
Governor of Hongkong with the above reason.
