H.B.M. SUPREME COURT,

SHANGHAI.

October 1, 1927.

sir,

I have the honour to acknowledge and thank

you for your despatch No.19 (X 5105/3219/505) dated

August 24, 1927, which concerns the remunerations

of the Judge of His Majesty's Supreme Court for

China when sitting in Hong Kong and that of the

Chief Justice of Hong Kong when sitting in Shanghai

I hope that the arrangement arrived at allows

for the Assistant Judge to sit at Hong Kong and

receive the remunerations stated in your despatch,

on such occasions when the Judge of His Majesty's

Supreme Court for China is unable to do so.

It appears that the previous arrangement did

not allow for such an emergency.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient servant,

I

Paen. Pain

His Majesty's Principal Secretary of State

Foreign Office,

for Foreign Affairs,

London.

JUDGE.
