Turning to the post-graduate scholarships
tenable in England, the present suggestion is two such
scholarships awarded every year. It is suggested that the value of each scholarship should be fixed at £1,000, irrespective of the length of the scholarship's tenure. It is estimated that the scholarship would be ordinarily tenable for 2 years, but if a scholar remained longer
this would not affect the cost of this scholarship

The maximum annual cost of the reduced scholarship scheme may be stated at about £10,000. But here again I would remind your Deputation that the payment to the University of all the scholarships except those tenable in Great Britain will have to be made in Hong Kong
