I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of your letter dated May 11, and thank you for the inform-
ation therein contained.
for:-
I now send you the following documents asked
(1) Affidavit by myself as to the nationality of my
late husband, my marriage with him and his death intestate, and that I intend to resume French nationality and anticip-
ate no difficulty after my arrival in France;
(2) Certificates of marriage and death are exhibited to
the affidavit;
(3) I have also exhibited to it a certificate of the
German Consulate General here that my husband died intestate
and in such case his property is to be divided between me
and his children in the ratio of one quarter to myself and
three quarters to my children.
I have applied to the French Consulate for some certificate that I am under French protection and will
be allowed to resume French nationality on my return to
France. I have received an acknowledgment of my application
and been asked to apply again in fifteen days.
For the reasons set out below and in my
affidavit, I think it better not to delay matters further, and I send you my French passport as being the best proof at present in my possession that I am under French protect- ion. I shall be grateful if you will inspect this document and inform the Governor of Hongkong that it is in order;
therefore,
I do not wish to part with it, and have to ask, that you will return it to me. I should, of course, like
to
