Messrs. Jardine Matheson & Co. became entitled to

participate in the Scheme by the allotment of the

area of Reclamation lying between Peroical Street

Extension and Marine Lot No. 52 and marked "44" on

Plan "E". Messrs. Jardine Matheson & Co. having

decided to participate in the Scheme,- and as this

natural extension would permit of Morrison Hill being levelled to the levels of the surrounding

district, it was decided to extend the Scheme to

-

East Point.

(2).Whereas Plan "p" shows the Scheme terminating short of the Royal Raval Arsenal Yard, Plan "g" shows the

Scheme extended to the Royal Naval Arsenal Yard Wharf.

Vide Enclosure to Despatch No, 296 of 16th November,

1916.

A Draft Agreement insomnection with the exchange of

land, &c. at the Royal Naval Arsenal Yard has been

agreed to by the Commodore, Royal Naval Dockyard,

Hongkong, and has been sent by him to the Admiralty

for its approval.

(3).The Line of the Sea Wall Boundary of the Reclamation is

shown on Plan "E" 25 feet farther seaward than the Line

shown on Plan "p".

Owing to the increase in motor transport, the

congestion experienced on the Western Praya, increase

in EskEr the value of land and consequent increased

height of buildings it was deemed advisable to

increase the widths of roads from 50 feet and 60

feet to 75 feet, retaining the through East and

West 100 feet road.

As these increased widths of roads would increase

the width of Reclamation by50 feet, a compromise

was effected by adding 25 feet to the width of

Reclamation and reducing the depth of the front

building
