With reference to my despatch No.343 of the
5th of September, I have the honour to state that the Legislative Council has unanimously agreed to an increase of 20% with effect from 1st January, 1921, to all pensioners of this Government domiciled in India, whose monthly pensions, based on unrevised salaries, are less than $25, provided
that no pension will thereby be increased to more than 825
a month.
The additional sum required for 1921 will be
about $2,250, but the amount will diminish as pensions
terminate.
