The omissions referred to in paragraph 2
hereof comprise a short speech by Mr. Fung Yin-sou; a rather important portion of the speech of Mr. Wong Kwong-tin who is not named in the "Daily Press" but referred to therein
as the speaker "who addressed the meeting with great animation and much gesticulation", and the Chairman's remarks summing up the arguments advanced.

Mr. Fung Yin-sou pointed out that there wes
a fundamental difference between a servant-girl and a slave; in fact the term "No-pei" (slave-servant-girl) had been loosely and incorrectly used. It applied to two totally different thing, a "no" (slave) must necessarily be of the
male sex, and must remain a slave not only in his own lifetime, but in the persons of his male descendants from generation to generation without cessation; while a servant- girl became free upon her marriage, or upon her "doing up her hair" and earning wages either in the home of her former
owner or outside thereof.

Mr. Wong Kwong-tin only became "vehement", when one or two of the previous speakers and their backers, who favoured the total abolition of the mui-tsai system, attempted to ahout him down. In addition to the little reported by the "Daily Press", he said that he was not the owner of a single servant-girl, and could therefore be expected to speak without bias. He agreed that until the economic conditions of China had improved, more harm would result from the abolition of the system. It would be impracticable, if not impossible for the Government to keep, and to properly dispose of, the very large number of servent girle now residing in the colony, if they were to be liberated.
