I am directed by the Civil Service Commissioners
to acknowledge the receipt of Mr. Grindle's letter 70995/1919 of the 1st instant informing then of the Sebeurrence of the Governor of Hong Kong with the proposal that the new scheme for Open Competitive
Examinations for Class I Clerkships shall be adopted also from 1921 onwards for Cadetships in Hong Kong.
The Commissioners will now await information
of the decision of the Governor of Ceylon.
