In confirmation of ry telegram of
the 30th. instant and in continuation of my Despatch No.
103 of the 24th. idem, I regret to state that Inspector J.-
Smith died at 8.00 p.m. on the 29th. idem in the Govern-
-ment Civil Hospital. He became unconscious towards the end
and passed away quietly without any pain.
