C.O. 1512
I am directed by His Excellency the Governor to inform you that a communication has been received from the Right Honourable the Secretary of State, in which Lord Derby states that he is of opinion that Dr. Wharry has not advanced strong grounds in support of his application for increase of pay, but that on the condition of his being in sole charge of the Civil Hospital, even though the accommodation may not be ready, and the number of patients may be larger, he will be granted an increase of pay sufficient to make it up to three thousand dollars per annum in all.
Dr. Ph. B. C. Ayres,
Colonial Surgeon.
