their colleagues who were concerned. It was also important to hasten the resumption of oil exports from Nigeria. The Commonwealth Secretary
and the Minister of Power should consider how best to concert action
with the Nigerian authorities and the oil companies on this point.
The Committee
(1) Took note, with approval, of the Prime Minister's summing
up.
(2) Invited the Commonwealth Secretary, in consultation with
the Minister of Power, to consider how best to approach the Nigerian authorities with a view to the early resumption of exports of oil from Nigeria.
(3) Invited the Lord President of the Council and the Postmaster
General to circulate, in advance, drafts of their speeches for the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the Balfour Declaration, for discussion with those of their colleagues who were concerned.
