At the thanks, all Judges of the Supreme Court are treated alike (Ordinance 1871/71 Section ...) and the same rule has held good, and will (in the contemplated alterations optative) hold good, at Leyton
In these circumstances it appears to me that there are good grounds for acceding to Mr Justice Smarden's request, "that the Puisne Judge of this Colony may be placed on the same footing as the Chief Justice in respect of time of service and the Scale of pension".
If this view be approved, the Governor of Hongkong should, I presume, be told to prepare, and submit to Lord Carnarvon, amendments accordingly the Pension Rules of 5 May 1862.
