The Causes of the Revolution of 1911 (1)-

Background History

Before I examine the causes of the 1911- Revolution, I would like to examine briefly the causes leading to the failure of the previous reforms and movements.

The Self-strengthening Movement failed to defend China.because

Therefore, Chinese capitalism grew in size and influence.

Above all, the Chinese bourgeoisee and capitalists were alienated from the conservative Confucian China..

12. All the above factors helped to

undermine the Qing Court.

The fate of the Qing Dynasty could be saved if the Hundred Days' reformers were a success.

However, the failure of the movement posed a lot of problems and we should not overlook the following significant points.

1. Empress Cizi were more anti-foreign

2. The anti-foreign attitude

3. It was. because Cixi

believed that the xenophobic (anti- foreign). boxers could expel, foreigners from China.

The failure of the Hundred Day Reforms convinced the Chinese, that reform from above seemed impossible.

5. Thus, more and more Chinese joined the revolutionary society, e.g. the Revive China Society, the Xing Zhong. Hui.

The Causes of Boxer Uprising

1.

The hardships of peasants after the advent of western imperialism into China and the growing social and religious conflicts. sirce the Treaty of Tianjin of 1858 led to the rise of anti-foreign sentiments and the people's hatred of the missionaries and their converts.

2. The natural disasters, such

Also, the slogans of the: Boxers: were welcomed by Empress Cixi, when] they had changed their anti-Nanchu stand,

4. By 1900, che Boxers changed the slogan, from "Down with the Qing, destroy the foreigners" to "support destroy the

the Qing and

foreigners.

The rise of this superstitious movement reflected Cixis ignorance and stupidity.

Jung 1000, believing that could expel the Express Lixi. declared 333 foreign powers.

The Boxer Uprising led to the invasion of the nations and the fleeing of Empress Dowager Guangxu to Xian.

The Boxer indemnity became another: source of discontent of Chinese: peasants because they had to pay more taxes for it.

The firandial burden led to growing number of rebellions and unrests:

Provisional power grew since most Chinese were convinced that the central government was unable to cope with foreign aggression and. internal unrest.

For instance, in 1900, when Cixi ceclared war on foreign power's, 2: number of govertor-generals, e.g. Li kongzhang and Yuan Shikai declared neutrality with western powers.

the As a result,

south eastern provinces. were saved from the 20gression of western imperialism.. Obviously, political and economic -forces grew in size in some provinces.

9. Thus, it can be said that the problem of decentralization became. very acute by the turn of the 20th century,

10. Above all the Boxer Uprising paved the way for the late Qing Reform which, out of the intention of the officials of the Qing Dynasty, could not save the dynasty," but speeded up the downfall of it.

Since 0.0214 m very small compared with the opening 3 m, therefore, the sound wave does not diffracted when passing through the opening. Hence, the intensity received by 6 is greater than that received by A and C.

Hence, the. wave produced by generator diffracted when passing through the opening and therefore the intensities received by A, B and C are equal..

Constructive interference occurs when path difference-m where m is an integer and is the wavelerigth. As he walks to P, the path, difference is equal ly one wavelength and therefore maximum intensity is received..
